In 1883 a huge storm hit Atlantic City and flooded Bradley’s Candy Store on the boardwalk. A young girl came in while he was cleaning up the flood mess and asked, "Do you still have taffy for sale?" He told the young girl, "Help yourself! it’s salt water taffy!"
